The Jollibee Group has transitioned its commissaries and logistics facilities in the Philippines to 99 percent renewable energy, marking a major step in its sustainability efforts.
The company is now using 11 megawatts of geothermal power supplied by First Gen Corporation. This shift is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 70 percent across the covered facilities.
A ceremonial switch-on event was held on January 29 at the company’s Laguna commissary. The event was attended by Jollibee Group leaders, First Gen executives, and local government officials.
The move builds on earlier renewable energy projects, including the installation of 17,000 solar panels with a combined capacity of over 9 megawatts at facilities in Parañaque and Laguna. The solar installations were completed in 2024.
Company officials said using renewable energy strengthens operations by ensuring a more stable and reliable power supply, which is important as the Jollibee Group continues to expand globally. Geothermal energy, which provides steady baseload power, is well-suited for the round-the-clock operations of its commissaries.
The initiative is part of the company’s “Joy for Tomorrow” sustainability program, which focuses on responsible growth and environmental protection. First Gen highlighted its continued partnership with Jollibee in delivering clean and dependable energy solutions.
The transition also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to affordable and clean energy and climate action.
