Subic Bay is accelerating its ascent as a premier aviation training hub after a new partnership between Topflite Academy of Aviation and De La Salle University–College of Saint Benilde (DLSU-CSB) linked academic instruction with hands-on flight training at Subic Bay International Airport (SBIA).
The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) said the collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on January 23, 2026, integrates St. Benilde’s academic curriculum with Topflite’s ground and in-flight training programs.
SBMA Senior Deputy Administrator for Business and Investment Renato Lee III noted that the agreement aims to produce industry-ready aviation professionals by aligning classroom learning with cockpit experience.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has approved St. Benilde as a satellite ground school facility of Topflite Academy. The integrated program is expected to roll out between 2026 and 2027, with flight training initially offered under St. Benilde’s Tourism Management Program.
Anchored by institutions like Topflite, Subic continues to strengthen its credentials as a leading aviation training destination.
The academy offers Commercial Pilot License, Private Pilot License, and Instrument Rating programs, supported by a modern fleet, advanced simulators, and brand-new Tecnam aircraft.
SBIA’s 9,000-foot runway—part of the former U.S. naval air station—adds to the airport’s appeal as a secure, high-capacity training environment.
The partnership coincided with the inauguration of Topflite’s new aviation training facilities at SBIA, marking its second flight operations hub after Bicol International Airport in Daraga, Albay.
Actor-director and newly licensed commercial pilot Xian Lim, who completed his training at Topflite in June 2025, served as master of ceremonies at the signing, underscoring the academy’s growing profile.
