The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will start a four-day on-site workweek on Monday, March 9, 2026 as part of the government’s efforts to conserve energy.
Under the temporary arrangement, GSIS employees will report to the office from Monday to Thursday, while Fridays will be a mandatory work-from-home day. The setup will stay in place until further notice.
Despite the change, GSIS said its service counters will remain open from Monday to Friday. Frontline staff will work in shifts to ensure members and pensioners can continue accessing services such as the Lobby and Pensioners Lounge.
The policy supports the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for government agencies and state-run firms to adopt energy-saving measures amid rising fuel and electricity costs linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso said the new work setup aims to reduce the agency’s energy consumption while maintaining service quality. He added that GSIS’s solar power system will help lower electricity use, noting that energy consumption on Fridays will be minimal because of the agency’s solar panels.
GSIS said all offices and personnel are expected to ensure continuous service delivery while following the temporary work arrangement.
