President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. inspected key farm facilities and a new road project in Isabela aimed at improving food supply and increasing farmers’ earnings.
The projects, worth P168.3 million, include an onion cold storage facility, a rice warehouse with drying pavement, and a farm-to-market road.
In Ramon town, the President checked a P43.44-million onion cold storage facility that can store up to 500 metric tons of onions for as long as seven months. This helps about 1,500 farmers avoid spoilage and sell their produce at better prices.
He also visited the P41.65-million Ambatali warehouse and drying facility, which will benefit over 2,000 farming households by providing safe drying and storage for rice. This is expected to replace unsafe roadside drying and help farmers earn more.
In nearby Santiago City, officials inspected the Rizal–Abra farm-to-market road, completed in January 2026 at a cost of P83.16 million. The road is expected to cut transport costs by 20 percent and reduce travel time by half, helping more than 500 farming households.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said the projects aim to modernize farming, lower costs, and protect farmers and consumers from rising global prices.
The Department of Agriculture said these investments will improve farm productivity, reduce losses, and help stabilize food supply and prices.
