Globe activates emergency plan to keep network running nationwide

Telecommunications company Globe Telecom assured customers that its services will remain stable following the government’s declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency.

The company said it has activated its business continuity plan to keep its network running despite possible fuel shortages and power disruptions.

As part of the plan, Globe has expanded work-from-home arrangements for most employees, except for those in critical roles such as network operations, IT, customer service, and security. It has also introduced energy-saving measures, including reduced travel, carpooling, and incentives for electric vehicle use.

To prevent service interruptions, Globe is prioritizing fuel and power supply for its network. The company is coordinating with partners to ensure backup generators at cell sites have enough fuel, while also managing battery usage in case both grid power and generators are affected.

Globe added that it is strengthening its energy strategy by improving efficiency and increasing its use of renewable energy, which currently powers about 30 percent of its network. It is also using AI technologies to optimize energy consumption.

The company said these steps aim to maintain reliable service while adapting to ongoing energy and geopolitical challenges.
