Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday inaugurated a new segment of the Cavitex C5 Link, a 7.7-kilometer road project expected to reduce travel time between Parañaque and Taguig to about 15 minutes.
The President said the new expressway will improve connectivity across southern Metro Manila, linking Taguig, Makati, Pasay, Parañaque, and Las Piñas, as well as nearby Cavite areas such as Bacoor and Kawit.
Officials present at the opening included Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, and representatives from the Philippine Reclamation Authority and the private sector.
Marcos said the project will help motorists save on fuel costs by shortening travel time, especially amid rising oil prices. Authorities also expect reduced traffic congestion in key areas such as Kaingin, along with improved access between Cavite and C5 in Taguig, and direct links to Sucat and Merville in Parañaque.
Dizon said more road projects will be opened in the coming weeks, following the President’s directive to ease travel and lower fuel expenses ahead of the Holy Week.
Built through a partnership involving the Philippine Reclamation Authority and Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation, the expressway will connect to major routes including the R1 Expressway, Sucat Road, and C5.
The road will be operated by PEA Tollway Corporation and is expected to serve around 36,000 motorists daily. Officials said it will also improve traffic flow and support economic activity between Cavite’s industrial zones and Metro Manila’s business centers.
