Shopee Philippines has partnered with the Philippine National Police Eastern Police District to roll out digital livelihood training for police families, tapping e-commerce as a pathway to supplemental income and financial resilience.
The collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding, brings Shopee’s “Tatak Pinoy” training program to households of police personnel under an initiative dubbed “Love at First Click: Negosyong Online para sa Pamilyang Pulis.” The program aims to equip families with practical skills to launch and manage online businesses—from store setup and digital marketing to order fulfillment and customer engagement.
The move reflects a growing push to expand participation in the digital economy beyond traditional entrepreneurs, particularly among communities with limited access to formal business opportunities. For Shopee, it also reinforces its strategy of deepening grassroots adoption of e-commerce tools.
“We have always believed that e-commerce can be a powerful equalizer,” said Jack Ng, head of commercial at Shopee Philippines, noting that the partnership extends the platform’s reach to underserved groups.
The training framework builds on Shopee’s Tatak Pinoy MSME Roadshow, which has trained over 700 sellers across 10 cities since 2025. By adapting the same curriculum for police families, the initiative aims to replicate its success in helping small sellers transition from informal ventures to scalable online enterprises.
For the police force, the program is as much about welfare as it is about economic opportunity. PNP-EPD chief Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante said the initiative supports not only personnel but also the families that underpin the organization’s stability.
The partnership comes as more Filipinos turn to digital platforms to supplement income amid economic pressures. By enabling police families to tap into e-commerce, both parties are betting on online entrepreneurship as a sustainable, scalable support system—one that extends well beyond the badge.
