Globe pushes green network, climate action at ASEAN business events

Telecommunications company Globe Telecom highlighted its sustainability efforts and climate initiatives during key meetings of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council held alongside the 2026 ASEAN Summit.

At the ASEAN BAC–Asia Pacific Financial Forum (APFF) conference on April 8, Globe presented its “Green Network” strategy, which focuses on cutting greenhouse gas emissions through renewable energy, energy efficiency, and data-driven operations. The event gathered government and industry leaders to discuss financing solutions for a more digital, inclusive, and climate-resilient Southeast Asia.

Globe chief sustainability officer Yoly Crisanto said the company’s approach shows how technology and clean energy can support measurable climate action and attract investment in sustainability projects.

The company aims to source 42 percent of its electricity consumption from renewable energy by 2030 and power over 3,000 cell sites with renewables by 2028. As of 2025, 34 percent of its energy use already comes from renewable sources.

Globe also took part in discussions with regional finance leaders during the ASEAN BAC interface with finance ministers and central bank governors. Chief finance officer Carlo Puno emphasized the need for stronger financial systems, clear policies, and regional cooperation to support investments in low-carbon projects.

The company said its participation in ASEAN-led discussions reflects the private sector’s role in supporting climate action and helping the Philippines transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon economy.
