A contact grower piggery farm in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija, will hold a public scoping on June 4, 2026, as part of requirements for its planned expansion, according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB).
Developer IPIGS Agricultural Farm aims to raise the facility’s capacity from 16,800 to 50,000 heads, covering 133,560 square meters. Construction is projected to take 18 months; no project cost was disclosed.
The expansion includes new buildings and support facilities. It is expected to boost local and national pork supply, support food security, and create jobs during construction and operation. The firm also committed to maintain high standards in biosecurity, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.
This development aligns with national efforts to rebuild the swine industry after the African Swine Fever (ASF) crisis. The Department of Agriculture is rolling out a repopulation program, starting with 32,000 young breeding pigs (gilts), to restore the national herd to pre-ASF levels of about 13 million heads. The government targets adding 6 million hogs by 2028 to strengthen domestic supply.
