Philippine furniture wins global buyers in High Point comeback

The Philippines’ return to High Point Market after nearly two decades is already paying dividends, with local furniture and home furnishings manufacturers securing USD3.7 million in initial orders and attracting interest from some of the world’s largest lifestyle and home décor brands.

Participating under the DESIGNPhilippines banner, 14 Filipino companies showcased furniture, home accessories, and material innovations at the prestigious North Carolina trade show, widely regarded as the world’s largest home furnishings marketplace.

Among the international buyers and brands that explored sourcing opportunities from the Philippine delegation were Clive Daniel Home, Made Goods, Palecek, The Phillips Collection, and Urban Outfitters, signaling renewed global interest in Philippine craftsmanship and design capabilities.

The strong turnout suggests the country is regaining visibility in a highly competitive global furniture market, where buyers are increasingly seeking sustainable materials, distinctive craftsmanship, and diversified supply chains.

Philippine exhibitors highlighted products made from indigenous and environmentally sustainable materials such as raffia, abaca, and piña fiber, reinforcing the country’s position as a source of both design innovation and responsible manufacturing.

Beyond finished furniture pieces, the Philippine pavilion drew attention for its display of raw materials, custom fittings, and material coverings. International buyers and designers spent considerable time evaluating the quality and versatility of Philippine-made components, opening opportunities that extend beyond retail products into broader furniture supply chains.

The commercial interest was complemented by industry recognition, with several Filipino-designed products featured by leading design publications and trend forecasters during the event. The exposure helped spotlight the country’s ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics—a key differentiator in today’s global market.

The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) said the outcome underscores the growing competitiveness of Philippine furniture exporters and validates efforts to reposition the country as a global design and manufacturing hub.

The successful comeback to High Point Market also comes at a time when global buyers are diversifying sourcing destinations amid supply chain shifts. For Philippine manufacturers, the event provided not only immediate sales opportunities but also a platform to build long-term relationships with major international retailers, designers, and distributors.
