Globe delivers broadband services to Visayas families via barangay centers

Globe AT HOME is rolling out community-based broadband centers across the Visayas region to make reliable home internet more accessible and easier to avail for local households. These new facilities are set up directly within barangays, solving a common challenge for families who previously had to travel far to get information, apply for services, or receive assistance with their internet connection needs.

DataReportal figures show that as of January 2025, there were 97.5 million internet users in the Philippines, equal to 83.8 percent of the total population—proof of how critical steady connectivity has become to daily life. The new centers act as one-stop access points where residents can ask about Globe Fiber plans, verify if service is available in their area, get help with applications, and receive guidance from start to finish when subscribing. Trained Globe representatives are assigned to these communities to help walk-in visitors and also reach out door-to-door to ensure more families know their options.

This barangay-level presence is designed to make service details more visible and within easy reach, removing the need for long trips just to access basic support. Jimbo Cordero, Globe general manager for Visayas, noted that reliable internet now underpins education, work, business, and daily tasks. Bringing services closer to people means more families can unlock the benefits and opportunities that come with a strong connection, he added.

For users, Globe Fiber supports students attending online classes, doing research, or submitting schoolwork from home. It also lets families handle government transactions, banking, bill payments, and job applications online without leaving their neighborhood. Small business owners and home-based workers can build their digital presence, reach more customers, and grow their ventures with stable access. On the personal side, households get seamless streaming, gaming, video calls, and smart home or AI features across multiple devices.

This June, expansion continues with new centers opening in Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Samar, Leyte, Bohol, and Cebu. Globe already operates similar access points across Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Oriental, and the same provinces included in the new rollout. Residents in participating barangays are invited to drop by their nearest center to check coverage.
