Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast strengthened its foothold in the Philippines after emerging as the country’s leading battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand while posting robust global sales growth in the first quarter of 2026.
The company delivered 58,577 electric vehicles worldwide from January to March, a 61-percent increase from the same period last year, reflecting growing demand for EVs across both domestic and international markets.
International sales continued to gain momentum, with the Philippines, India, and Indonesia playing increasingly important roles in VinFast’s expansion strategy. Overseas markets accounted for about 8 percent of total deliveries during the quarter, helping lift revenue by 41.7 percent to VND23.1 trillion (approximately USD920.7 million).
VinFast said it ended the first quarter as the top BEV brand in the Philippines, highlighting the growing acceptance of electric mobility among Filipino consumers. The development comes as the country gradually expands its charging network and financial institutions introduce more financing options for EV buyers.
The company’s strong Philippine performance reflects a broader trend across Southeast Asia, where governments and consumers are increasingly embracing cleaner transport solutions amid rising fuel costs and sustainability goals.
VinFast Chairman Pham Nhat Quan Anh said the automaker has entered a new phase focused on disciplined execution, sustainable growth, and operational efficiency as it scales its international presence.
“The global transition to electrified transportation continues to create significant opportunities across our key markets,” he said.
To support future growth, VinFast expanded its global retail network to 447 showrooms by the end of March and signed agreements with 29 additional after-sales partners. The company is targeting more than 1,100 service workshops worldwide by year-end, a move aimed at strengthening customer support and addressing one of the key considerations for prospective EV buyers.
Beyond vehicle sales, VinFast is investing heavily in next-generation mobility technologies. The automaker is collaborating with NVIDIA and Autobrains on a Level 4 autonomous driving program for Southeast Asia, underscoring its ambitions to become a major player in the region’s evolving smart mobility ecosystem.
