German firm secures P12.6B funding for Surigao solar-battery project

German renewable energy developer ib vogt has secured up to P12.6 billion in financing for its 320-megawatt solar and battery storage hybrid facility in Barobo, Surigao del Sur. China Bank Capital and RCBC Capital will serve as lead arrangers for the project.

Scheduled to break ground by the final quarter of 2026 and start operations by late 2027, the project is projected to produce over 500 gigawatt-hours of clean energy yearly—enough for 480,000 homes—while cutting annual carbon emissions by 200,000 metric tons.

Earlier this month, ib vogt also obtained P4.5 billion from RCBC for a smaller 103-megawatt solar-battery plant in Ajuy, Iloilo. That facility, set to launch in mid-2027, will supply power to 85,000 households and reduce emissions by 70,000 tons each year. Both projects form part of the company’s goal to build over 1,000 megawatts of renewable capacity nationwide. Headquartered in Singapore, ib vogt operates in 32 countries.
