CAAP signs MOUs advancing sustainable aviation fuel, emissions

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has sealed two separate agreements with the Island Skies Alliance (ISA) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to speed up Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) development and lower the aviation sector’s carbon footprint.

SAF is seen as a key to reduce emissions while also boosting energy security, attracting investments, and creating green jobs.

With ISA, CAAP will build a national SAF system through pilot projects, training, stakeholder coordination, carbon market work, and private sector participation.

With GGGI, the focus will be on technical help, policy design, capacity building, and access to global expertise.

Officials said SAF is more than technology — it positions the country in the low-carbon aviation economy. The deals align with ICAO climate rules and back national goals set by the President and transport department.
