Young shoppers sustain Philippine beauty industry boom

The Philippine beauty and personal care industry is poised to maintain its strong growth trajectory through 2026, fueled by a young consumer base, booming e-commerce activity, and the powerful influence of social media on purchasing decisions.

According to the Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines (CCIP), industry sales expanded by an average of 10 percent in 2025, outperforming several markets across the Asia-Pacific region and positioning the sector for another year of double-digit growth.

“The demand drivers are e-commerce and the Philippines’ very young population. It’s very easy to buy products online, while trends on social media continue to drive cosmetics sales,” CCIP President Janina Tan said.

The industry’s resilience stands out at a time when many consumer sectors continue to grapple with inflation and tighter household budgets. Despite economic pressures, Filipinos remain willing to spend on beauty and personal care products, reflecting the category’s growing importance in everyday consumption.

“I think the industry is not that affected,” Tan said, noting that demand has remained robust even amid broader economic challenges.

The rapid rise of digital commerce is also reshaping competition within the sector. While multinational brands continue to dominate advertising spending, local manufacturers are increasingly leveraging social media and online marketplaces to reach consumers directly.

“Social media gives local brands the opportunity to showcase our products and bring them directly to the market,” Tan said. “More Filipinos are also becoming conscious about buying local products.”

Industry players see this shift as an opportunity for homegrown brands to capture a larger share of a fast-growing market, particularly among younger consumers who are more likely to discover products through influencers, online reviews, and social media trends.

To support continued growth, the CCIP is ramping up industry development efforts through Cosmobeauté Philippines, including campaigns promoting mercury-free cosmetics, initiatives with the Department of Trade and Industry to strengthen the e-commerce environment, and business-matching programs designed to help local companies expand.

With digital channels accelerating product discovery and consumer engagement, the Philippine beauty sector appears well-positioned to remain one of the country’s fastest-growing consumer industries.
