Local retail electricity supplier Rockport Power Inc. is leveraging three key government initiatives—the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA), Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), and Retail Aggregation Program (RAP)—to help customers lower their bills and choose their energy provider.
In a statement, the firm said it has forged new partnerships with major distribution utilities and electric cooperatives, including Manila Electric Co., Batangas I Electric Cooperative, and Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative, with plans to soon work with Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative.
RCOA lets large power users select competitive rates, GEOP allows switching to fully renewable energy, and RAP enables smaller consumers to group together and negotiate lower costs. According to Rockport president Marvee Espejo, the company aims to act as a partner for savings rather than just a supplier, raising awareness that customers are no longer limited to one traditional provider.
The model has already delivered results. In April, Rockport partnered with local manufacturer King Global Sanitary Products, helping the firm cut electricity costs by roughly 30 percent. The savings also supported faster production and reliable supply of hygiene goods across its facilities in Laguna, Davao, and Cebu.
