PTTC joins NZCA, becomes first public sector member to advance low-carbon transition

The Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), the capacity-building arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has formally joined the Net Zero Carbon Alliance (NZCA) following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the MSME Hub in Makati.

PTTC is the first government institution to become part of the private-sector-led alliance, highlighting the growing role of public agencies in driving the country’s shift toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy.

Under the partnership, both groups will work together on capacity building, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement to promote decarbonization and sustainable practices. The main goal is to equip businesses – especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) – with the skills and tools they need to adapt and thrive in a net-zero economy.

NZCA executive director Allan Barcena noted that meaningful climate action requires combined effort. “No single group can achieve this transition alone. This partnership shows how government and private sectors can build capabilities and speed up the adoption of sustainable practices across all industries,” he said.

PTTC executive director Clare Mari Torralba added that the center is committed to inclusive growth aligned with national climate targets. “We aim to help Filipino businesses embrace sustainable practices so they can compete and succeed in a low-carbon future,” she stated.

Launched in 2021 by Energy Development Corp. (a subsidiary of First Gen), NZCA is the Philippines’ leading coalition working to help organizations reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
