Leading fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has partnered with the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) to strengthen the country’s IT-BPM sector amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI).
The sector currently employs nearly 2 million Filipinos and generated US$40 billion in export revenues in 2025, contributing more than 8 percent of the country’s gross domestic product.
Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy noted that the company has already built the national digital infrastructure needed to support the industry’s AI transition. The next critical step is to equip workers with new skills, so they can move beyond basic repetitive tasks—where AI has clear advantages—and take on high-value, complex work.
“Our goal is to protect this vital industry and its workforce, and help maintain the Philippines’ standing as a top global BPO hub alongside India,” Uy said during the ceremony marking Converge’s entry as an IBPAP Platinum Member.
IBPAP president Jack Madrid highlighted Converge’s proven track record, noting its network kept operations running and enabled the sector to add 260,000 jobs even during pandemic lockdowns. The association represents over 400 firms and six related industry groups, covering animation, game development, healthcare information management, software services, customer experience, and global capability centers.
Both sides agreed the partnership will focus on knowledge sharing, joint projects, and coordinated efforts between government and private stakeholders to drive the sector’s next phase of growth.
