Marcos Jr. opens upgraded Benoni Port facilities to boost Camiguin links and tourism

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inaugurated the new Passenger Terminal Building and Lightcraft Landing Station at Camiguin’s Benoni Port on Monday, to deliver safer, more efficient services and drive the province’s economic and tourism growth.

President Marcos highlighted the port’s vital role as Camiguin’s main gateway, noting it keeps people, goods and opportunities flowing for residents, businesses and visitors. Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez said the project is part of the government’s national port modernization drive, while the new lightcraft station will better serve yachts and tourist vessels.

Philippine Ports Authority officials added the upgrades will cut congestion and support local industries. Benoni Port links Camiguin to Misamis Oriental and Bohol, with projections showing annual passenger traffic could rise to nearly 893,100 by 2030. The works also include an improved operations building, as part of broader efforts to strengthen inter-island connectivity.
