Electricity consumers will see a small rise in transmission charges on their July 2026 bills, driven mainly by higher ancillary service fees, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced on Wednesday.
The average combined transmission rate for the June supply period, which is billed this month, went up 0.77 percent to P1.4604 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), from P1.4492 per kWh in May. Ancillary service rates alone jumped 10.18 percent, rising from P0.7220 to P0.7955 per kWh. These services keep the power grid stable during gaps between supply and demand, and are paid directly to qualified power generators and market operators.
NGCP clarified that it does not earn any income from ancillary service charges, as the full amount is passed straight to service providers. Its own core fee for transmitting power through the national grid actually fell from P0.5607 to P0.5058 per kWh over the same period. The firm added that ancillary services still make up the largest share of total transmission-related costs, and remain essential to keeping electricity supply consistent nationwide.
