The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Financial Stability Coordination Council (FSCC) conducted their first ever regional financial stability briefings in Cebu and Davao on July 6 and 8, 2026 respectively. The sessions centered on key findings from the 2025 Financial Stability Report (FSR), the agencies’ annual publication that assesses local and global trends, emerging risks facing the Philippine financial system, and the sector’s capacity to sustain national economic growth.
Attendees included representatives from local banks, academic institutions, local government units, media outlets, and other key stakeholders in the financial system. BSP assistant governor and FSCC technical secretariat head Veronica B. Bayangos emphasized that financial stability is a shared responsibility, noting that it carries particular importance for banks, enterprises, and residents based outside the capital where major policy decisions are typically formulated.
Bayangos joined panel discussions alongside BSP bank officer Ronald D. Margallo, Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation vice president Jose G. Villaret, Jr., and BSP director Alvin D. Gamat.
