Manila Water is set to boost water security for customers in its East Zone, with the ₱7.84-billion East Bay Phase 2 Water Supply System Project scheduled for completion this September.
The project will add up to 200 million liters per day of treatment capacity, drawing raw water from the eastern side of Laguna Lake. It will cut reliance on Angat Dam — Metro Manila’s main water source — and serve around two million people in Pasig, Pateros, Taguig, and parts of Rizal Province.
Key facilities include a water treatment plant and intake station in Barangay Kabulusan, Pakil, Laguna. Water will flow through pipelines across Pakil and Jalajala, plus a section laid across Laguna Lake, before connecting to Manila Water’s existing distribution network.
“We thank our local government partners in Rizal for their vital support throughout this process,” said Dittie Galang, Manila Water corporate communications group head. “This partnership has helped move forward infrastructure that will deliver more stable, sustainable water service to our communities.”
This work forms part of Manila Water’s broader push to diversify water sources and strengthen supply reliability. Earlier projects include the 100 MLD Cardona, 50 MLD East Bay, and 80 MLD Calawis treatment plants. When fully operational, the new system will improve the company’s ability to meet current needs and keep up with rising demand in the years ahead.
