Kairos Care eyes Philippine IT-BPO hub for Australian healthcare

Australian healthcare provider Kairos Care/Kairos Medical Group is exploring the Philippines as a base for export-oriented IT-BPO operations that would support its Australian healthcare business, adding to growing interest in the country as a destination for knowledge-intensive services.

The group discussed its investment plans with Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Tereso O. Panga on Aug. 13 at the PEZA Investment and Corporate Center in Pasay City.

Kairos Care and Kairos Medical Group provide general practice, mental health, disability support, and aged care services in Australia. Its proposed Philippine operation would initially handle administrative and back-office functions for its Australian business and potentially other global markets.

The company is also looking to work with Philippine universities on internship programs and future recruitment, creating a talent pipeline as it expands its healthcare support operations.

Panga highlighted the Philippines’ advantages as an IT-BPO destination, including incentives under the CREATE MORE Act, PEZA’s ecozone network, and the track record of Australian and IT-BPO companies registered with the agency.

Kairos is also considering a broader play in the Philippine market by offering outsourced services to other healthcare organizations, potentially turning the planned operation into a healthcare-focused services hub rather than a captive support center.

The Australian group is exploring partnerships beyond IT-BPO, with Philippine resorts for wellness and rehabilitation programs covering mental health and disability care.

The discussions point to an emerging intersection between healthcare, technology, and outsourcing, with the Philippines positioned to provide both the talent and services needed to support Australia’s growing healthcare requirements.

The potential investment also fits PEZA’s push to attract export-oriented businesses that use Philippine talent to serve global markets.

The growing use of artificial intelligence in healthcare could further widen the scope of such operations, from administrative support to more technology-enabled services, although human expertise remains central to healthcare delivery.

The proposed investment could therefore open a new lane for Philippine IT-BPO, extending its reach beyond traditional industries and into the increasingly technology-driven global healthcare economy.
