ERC extends GEA-All collection suspension until end-2026 to ease power costs

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced Wednesday it has further extended the temporary suspension of Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) collections through the end of 2026, continuing relief for consumers amid ongoing economic pressures.

This marks the second extension of the suspension this year. Originally set to end June 30, it was first extended to August 31 before the ERC’s latest decision. The suspension covers the P0.0371 per kilowatt-hour charge and applies to all collection agents—distribution utilities, retail electricity suppliers, and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

GEA-All is a uniform charge collected from all power users to fund payments to renewable energy developers under the government’s Green Energy Auction Program. The ERC said the extension was approved after confirming the GEA-All Fund remains financially sufficient to cover obligations even with three additional power plants joining the program this month. As of August 5, 2026, the fund stood at roughly P556.91 million, enough to meet projected disbursements.

The ERC emphasized that while consumer relief is a priority, the fund’s financial integrity will be protected to ensure timely payments to qualified renewable energy developers. It also warned that non-compliance with the advisory may result in show-cause orders and penalties under existing rules and laws.
