Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) remitted P23.66 billion in customs duties and taxes in the first seven months of 2026, emerging as the biggest revenue contributor to the Bureau of Customs-Port of Batangas (BOC-POB).
The payments accounted for 16.4 percent of the port’s total collections from January to July, underscoring TMP’s sizeable contribution to government revenues even as vehicle demand softened.
The BOC-POB recognized TMP as its Top 1 Import Revenue Collection Contributor during the port district’s 69th founding anniversary celebration in Bauan, Batangas, on Aug. 17.
TMP said its customs payments declined from the same period last year, citing broader macroeconomic pressures and weaker demand amid the energy crisis during the first seven months of 2026.
Despite the slowdown, the automaker retained its position as the port’s largest revenue generator, highlighting the scale of its vehicle import operations.
BOC-POB District Collector Carmelita Talusan said the Port of Batangas was the country’s highest-performing customs collection district from January to July, consistently surpassing its revenue targets and accounting for nearly a quarter of nationwide customs collections.
The port also recorded its highest monthly collection in its 69-year history in July, fueled by strong contributions from major automotive and energy stakeholders.
TMP’s import operations are supported by its Batangas Vehicle Center, strategically located near the port, allowing the company to move imported vehicles through its supply chain.
The automaker also holds Authorized Economic Operator Level 2 certification, recognizing companies that meet customs requirements on trade compliance and supply-chain security.
For TMP, its customs contribution goes beyond a ranking. The payments underscore the fiscal impact of automotive trade and the importance of efficient ports to an industry that relies heavily on imported vehicles, parts, and other inputs.
TMP said its continued partnership with the BOC helps facilitate efficient vehicle imports while generating substantial revenues for the government.
The strong collection performance also highlights Batangas Port’s growing role in supporting the country’s automotive and energy sectors, as well as the government’s broader revenue-generation efforts.
