La Viña: Legarda-Leviste cases “classic lawfare”

Human rights lawyer Antonio Gabriel La Viña has rejected plunder and graft allegations against Sen. Loren Legarda and her son, Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste, calling the cases “classic lawfare” and a form of political persecution.

As spokeperson and part of Legarda’s legal team, La Viña said no formal charges have been filed in court and both have submitted counter-affidavits to the Ombudsman. He maintained that Legarda has no ownership or role in Leviste’s solar companies and committed no wrongdoing.

“Responsibility is personal. Motherhood should not become evidence against her,” he said, warning against using legal proceedings for political ends.
