Martha Sazon, president and CEO of Mynt, the parent company of GCash, has been named to Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Asia list for 2026, extending her run on the regional ranking to three consecutive years.
The recognition comes as GCash continues to broaden its reach beyond digital payments, positioning itself as a wider financial services platform in the Philippines, where access to formal banking and credit remains uneven.
Under Sazon’s leadership, Mynt reached a $5-billion valuation, cementing its place among the country’s most valuable fintech companies. The company is also pursuing an initial public offering that could become the largest in Philippine history, although the potential listing’s timing and final terms remain key considerations.
Sazon assumed leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, when lockdowns accelerated the shift to digital transactions. Since then, GCash has expanded into savings, lending, insurance and investments, seeking to turn its extensive payments network into an entry point for a broader range of financial products.
One component of that strategy is GScore, the platform’s AI-powered credit scoring system. GCash says it has helped extend lending services to more than 11 million borrowers, half of them women. The figures highlight the potential reach of digital lending, though access alone does not establish whether borrowers are achieving lasting improvements in financial security.
“I’m grateful for this recognition, which reflects the work of the whole team behind what we do,” Sazon said.
She added that GCash’s “Finance for All” mission involves using technology to improve everyday life and create more opportunities for Filipinos.
Beyond the domestic market, Sazon has represented Philippine fintech at international gatherings, including the World Economic Forum, Mobile World Congress and the United Nations Global Compact Leaders Summit.
Fortune’s 2026 list recognizes 150 influential women leaders across Asia, assessing candidates based on business scale, innovation, influence and impact. Sazon’s third consecutive appearance highlights her growing profile as GCash pursues its next phase of expansion, with financial inclusion and the prospects of a landmark IPO among the defining measures of its progress.
