Technology-driven banking and lending platform Salmon Group has secured $140 million, around ₱8.8 billion, in new financing to accelerate its expansion across the Philippines. The capital injection marks a major milestone for the financial technology operator, reinforcing investor confidence in its business model and long-term growth trajectory within one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital economies.
At the operational level, the newly acquired capital will directly fund the rapid scaling of Salmon’s core, high-performing credit products, specifically its Salmon Credit Line and point-of-sale in-store lending channels. Beyond expanding existing services, the proceeds will drive the nationwide deployment of new product offerings, including motorcycle financing and micro, small, and medium enterprise lending. To support this heightened transactional volume, the company continues to leverage its proprietary artificial intelligence credit engine, which evaluates borrowers with limited credit histories and delivers lending decisions within minutes.
From a corporate strategy perspective, this funding round strengthens Salmon’s dual-licensing framework, which operates through both a Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-regulated entity, Salmon Bank, and a Securities and Exchange Commission-licensed financing firm, Salmon Finance. Achieving this level of scale in under four years positions Salmon as a prominent institution bridging the gap between traditional banking infrastructure and modern digital finance. The capital backing enables the group to deepen its physical and digital footprint, capture a broader share of the underserved retail market, and solidify its standing as a core player in the modernization of the Philippine financial sector.
