The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has emphasized that steady economic conditions, a reliable financial system, and solid infrastructure are essential to helping new, higher-value industries take root and thrive. Speaking at the Philippine Economic and Investment Briefing held here on 6 November 2026, BSP Deputy Governor Zeno Ronald R. Abenoja explained that stability gives businesses the confidence they need to invest, grow, and create lasting opportunities.
Western Visayas stands out as a promising example, having posted the country’s fastest regional economic growth in 2025 at 6.4 percent. Building on this momentum, the region can expand beyond its traditional strengths in agriculture and commerce into digital services, renewable energy, tourism, and advanced manufacturing — particularly sectors that add value through processing, innovation, and technology.
Abenoja noted that the BSP contributes directly by keeping prices stable and maintaining a strong financial system. Low, predictable inflation safeguards household purchasing power and lets businesses plan ahead with certainty. A robust banking system, meanwhile, ensures families and enterprises can continue accessing the financing they need. Together with government efforts to improve infrastructure, trade links, and market access, these conditions create an environment where investments flourish.
The briefing, organized under the theme “Make Future Industries Happen,” was part of the regional launch of the 2026–2028 Strategic Investment Priority Plan led by the Department of Trade and Industry–Board of Investments. It brought together public officials, business leaders, and stakeholders to outline priority sectors and highlight investment opportunities across the region. The series of briefings — held both nationwide and in key international cities — is a joint initiative of the BSP, Department of Finance, and DTI-BOI to share the Philippines’ economic outlook and attract quality investments.
