Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr. on Monday bared the strategy modernizing Philippine agriculture through initiatives aimed at boosting productivity, enhancing food security and improving incomes of farmers and fishermen.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday launched a program helping agricultural cooperatives across 1.2 million hectares planted to rice across the country. The Department of Agriculture program targets increasing farmer-member productivity and income by providing low-cost credit, financial assistance, and a ready market for their harvests.
The Department of Agriculture and Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization has inaugurated a rice processing facility and turned over several machineries worth P96 million expected to boost productivity and income of farmers in Quirino province.
The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) on Wednesday turned over a coconut processing facility to a coconut farmers’ group in Placer, Surigao del Norte.
