The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is investigating the latest hacking incident at the House of Representatives website.
The Congress website was the latest cybersecurity incident involving a government entity. A “You’ve been hacked” message appeared on the left side of its page, which is now inaccessible.
Renato A. Paraiso, DICT spokesperson, said the agency has been informed of the cybersecurity incident that occurred at the House of Representatives.
“We are currently investigating the extent of the said incident and we shall provide further updates to the public as soon as they become available.”
Earlier, the Philippine Health Insurance Corp., the Philippine Statistics Office, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Philippine National Police websites were hacked.
DICT Undersecretary Jeffrey Ian Dy said in an
earlier interview that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is worried about the recent data leaks in government agencies.
“He actually told us we should really beef up our defenses,” Dy said.
Dy said Marcos wants to know the technical details of the data breach incidents in government agencies.
“[The President said] we shouldn’t be reacting after the fact, we should be preparing before it happens,” Dy said, adding that Marcos committed to help the agency to fight cybercriminals.
