Repower Energy Development Corp., the listed pure hydropower subsidiary arm of Pure Energy Holdings Corp., said Thursday it has successfully commissioned its newest run-of-river hydropower plant located in Real, a town in Quezon province.
Already the 8th hydropower plant in Repower’s portfolio, the Lower Labayat power plant in Real has a capacity of 1.4 megaWatts and an annual generation of 8 gigaWatt-hours.
Repower affiliate Blue Energy Holdings and Management Corp., headed by Christopher Tiu, operates the Lower Labayat hydroelectric plant. Flovel Energy of India provided the electro-mechanical turbines and generators.
“We are proud to have finally completed this meaningful project that certainly benefits our stakeholders, despite the challenges encountered. We thank our many partners for the support in making this project a reality,” said Tiu.
The new Lower Labayat hydropower plant is located in between the operating Upper Labayat and Tibag hydropower plants. All three operating run-of-river hydropower plants of Repower are connected to the National Grid Corp.
Repower president Eric Peter Roxas said that 2023 is a year of aggressive expansion in the clean energy space for the company. “We look forward to continuing enhancing our services to the key markets we operate in so that we can uplift our stakeholders’ standards of living,” he added.
Repower inaugurated in June its 5.8 MW run-of-river hydropower plant in Quezon Province. It is constructing another 4.5 MW hydropower plant also in Quezon and a bigger 20MW hydropower plant in Bukidnon, both of which are scheduled to operate late next year.
The company has a pipeline of three more run-of-river hydropower projects located in Northern Luzon that will start construction in 2024.
