AG&P completes module fabrication work for INEOS Project One

Engineering fabricators at Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific Co. of Manila Inc. (AG&P) have completed the fabrication and shipment of modules for INEOS Capital Ltd., the world’s fourth largest chemical company.

AG&P said it has fabricated an outside battery limit (OSBL) module weighing 1,432 metric tons for London-based INEOS, its first European contract.

The module was fabricated at AG&P Industrial’s yard in Batangas, and shipped to the Port of Antwerp, Belgium that hosts the second largest chemical site in the world.

AG&P is set to deliver 77 pre-assembled pipe rack modules and 58 support structures, totaling over 10,700 metric tons. The final shipment is expected in February 2025.

AG&P’s work scope includes detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication and modularization of pre-assembled units and pipe racks.

Project ONE competes with the Wood Group as engineering, procurement and construction management arm, with all three entities collaborating as one integrated team to deliver the project.

“We are honored to be selected by INEOS for its flagship project and for the opportunity for AG&P Industrial to enter Europe for the very first time in our over a century of existence. AG&P Industrial was selected by INEOS from among top 15 yards globally, qualifying with necessary certifications and stringent European industry standards of construction,” Alex Gamboa, company president and managing director of global business development, said.

AG&P employed more than 2,100 for the Batangas project, all its craftsmen trained and certified to European standards.

The modules will support INEOS Project ONE, an ethane cracker plant with a capacity of 1,450 kt of ethylene a year.

Designed as one of Europe’s most efficient and sustainable chemical plants, Project ONE, worth about 4 billion euros, provides ethylene, a key building block in chemistry, at the lowest carbon footprint by making overall use of the best available techniques.

Consumers of Project ONE’s ethylene will cut carbon emissions by 2 million tons a year compared to available alternatives today, equivalent to greenhouse gas emissions produced by 1.6 million gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driven for one year, or carbon dioxide emissions from 867,574 homes’ energy use for one year.
