SMC, Ayala Greenfield break ground on new interchange in Calamba

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) and Ayala Greenfield Development Corp. (AGDC) have broken ground on the Ayala Greenfield Interchange, a vital infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity in southern Metro Manila.

The ceremony was led by SMC chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang, AGDC chairman Joselito Campos Jr., and Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.

Construction is set to commence next month, with the interchange designed as a full-directional facility linking the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Toll Road 3 (TR3) to local roads.

The project is expected to ease traffic congestion and facilitate smoother travel between SLEX and Sto. Tomas, Batangas, significantly reducing travel time once the upcoming SLEX Toll Road 4 (TR4) is completed.

Ang emphasized the project’s significance in supporting the long-term growth of the CALABARZON region, saying, “By the end of the year, we expect to turn it into a 6 x 6-lane expressway.”

Zobel noted the interchange’s role as a gateway connecting Metro Manila to southern Luzon, promising direct benefits to the local community and improved access to major urban centers.

The Ayala Greenfield Interchange will also enhance access to the Ayala Greenfield Estates, a 550-hectare residential community that exemplifies sustainable living amidst the scenic beauty of Mt. Makiling and Laguna de Bay.
