Megawide to launch partial Cavite BRT operations by September

Megawide Construction Corp. announced plans to begin partial operations of the P1.87-billion Cavite Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system by September this year, with construction set to begin in the second quarter. The BRT system, which will connect key areas in Cavite to Metro Manila via the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), spans about 42 kilometers and will serve cities like Imus, Trece Martires, and Kawit.

Chairman Edgar Saavedra projected initial ridership of under 10,000 passengers daily, with ambitions to reach 50,000 within three years, contingent on the region’s growth. The full completion of the system is expected to take approximately two years.

In a separate development, Megawide recently took full control of Megawide GMR Construction JV, the developer behind the Clark International Airport project. The company acquired 81 million shares from GMR Infrastructure Singapore for P70.84 million, making Megawide GMR a wholly-owned subsidiary.
