Basic Energy Corp. said Wednesday that the Department of Energy has granted the listed energy company a Certificate of Authority for the Mariveles Solar Power Project.
The COA, issued by the DOE under the revised Omnibus Guidelines Governing the Award and Administration of Renewable Energy Contracts, empowers Basic Energy to begin securing the necessary permits and tenure instruments required for the project. This certificate also allows the company to initiate procurement activities ahead of the 25-year solar energy contract term.
The solar power facility will be located in Mariveles, Bataan, spanning approximately 72 hectares. A preliminary assessment by an independent third-party firm indicate that the plant is expected to generate a peak output of at least 62 megaWatts.
With the COA secured, Basic Energy will move to the next steps in the development process. This includes obtaining approvals from relevant national agencies and local government units, as well as conducting a System Impact Study in collaboration with the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines.
