The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), will hold a public scoping on April 20, 2026 for a proposed solar energy project in Hermosa, Bataan.
The project, proposed by Solar Origin 1 Corp., is a 250-megawatt solar power facility expected to be built on around 280 hectares of land. It has an estimated cost of about $40.58 million.
During the public scoping, the company will present an overview of the project and gather comments, concerns, and other input from the public and stakeholders.
According to project documents, the investment will cover engineering, construction, land acquisition, financing, and other development costs. The project will be funded through a 70:30 mix of debt and equity.
The project is expected to create jobs during both construction and operation. At peak construction, around 1,000 workers may be needed, while 50 to 100 personnel may be hired for long-term operations and maintenance.
Priority for employment will be given, when possible, to residents of nearby communities. The project is planned for implementation over five years.
The review process is being led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Environmental Management Bureau, while the developer is Solar Origin 1 Corp.
