Local power company Jin Navitas Electric Corp. (JNEC) will serve as the official retail electricity supplier of Manila Ocean Park under a two-year agreement, with an option to extend.
The theme park needs about 2.5 megawatts (MW) of power, most of which is required during daytime hours. Supply will primarily come from the 4.95 MW Ningning solar project in Naic, Cavite — operated by Solaris, an affiliate of JNEC. For nighttime needs, JNEC plans to source power from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, while also exploring additional renewable energy providers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
JNEC president and CEO Jose Alfonso Miras noted the firm is also discussing possible power supply for Manila Ocean Park’s other locations in Cebu and Boracay. This partnership is made possible under the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access program, which lets large power users choose their suppliers.
Beyond this project, JNEC’s energy portfolio includes a 135 MW coal plant in Iloilo, diesel-fired facilities with 55.65 MW total capacity across three provinces, and the ongoing 35 MW Ajuy 1 solar plant — also in Iloilo. That solar project has secured a 20-year supply contract for 14 MW of its output, set to be operational by 2026.
