9th JAMI Cultural Festival highlights Japan-Philippines ties

The 9th Cultural Festival organized by the Japanese Association Manila (JAMI) took place at the Romulo Auditorium, bringing together Japanese and Filipino communities.

Ambassador Endo Kazuya and his wife, Madame Endo Akiko, attended the gathering. In his opening remarks, the Ambassador thanked the association and guests, describing the event as an important channel to strengthen exchanges and share Japanese culture. He noted that 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of normalized diplomatic relations between Japan and the Philippines, and expressed hope for continued growth in bilateral ties.

Ten performance groups involving around 300 participants presented choral works, dances, instrumental music, and other acts, showcasing months of practice. The festival drew nearly 800 people in total, including many Filipino guests alongside Japanese attendees. Organizers and observers hailed the occasion as a warm, successful celebration filled with enthusiasm from both performers and the audience.
