The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has received recognition from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for registering the highest number of participants in customer choice programs across Luzon. The award highlights the firm’s support for efforts that give consumers more control and help build a more competitive electricity market.
The citation was formally presented by ERC chairman and CEO Francis Saturnino Juan. Accepting the award on behalf of Meralco was senior vice president and head of regulatory management Jose Ronald Valles. Department of Energy Secretary Sharon Garin also attended the ceremony.
Meralco has been actively rolling out key government initiatives including the Retail Competition and Open Access, Green Energy Option Program, and Retail Aggregation Program. These schemes allow qualified customers to select their own electricity provider, offering greater flexibility and options beyond the standard supply arrangement.
