Aboitiz Renewables Inc., the clean energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation, has officially launched its 92.55-megawatt peak San Manuel Solar Power Plant in Pangasinan. The project expands the company’s solar footprint in the province and supports the national goal of raising renewable energy’s share in the country’s power supply.
Built in partnership with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, local government units, and host communities, the facility feeds electricity directly into the Luzon grid through the San Manuel 69 kV Substation. The inauguration was attended by Energy Secretary Sharon Garin, Pangasinan vice governor Mark DG. Lambino, San Manuel mayor Kenneth Marco Perez, and other local officials.
In her remarks, Secretary Garin described the plant as a commitment to stable, affordable power, local jobs, and sustainable energy choices for future generations. Speaking on behalf of Pangasinan governor Ramon Guico III, Binalonan vice mayor Bryan Louie Balangue noted the province’s full support, highlighting the project’s benefits for lower electricity costs, reliability, and environmental protection.
San Manuel is Aboitiz Renewables’ third solar facility in Pangasinan, joining the 154-MWp Laoag 1 and 2 and the 94-MWp Cayanga-Bugallon plants. AboitizPower President and CEO Danel Aboitiz said the investment strengthens the energy system, diversifies sources, and boosts long-term energy security. He added the firm’s attributable renewable capacity has grown from roughly 900 megawatts in 2020 to 2.3 gigawatts today.
Aboitiz Renewables now operates 45 clean energy facilities nationwide covering solar, hydro, geothermal, and storage, with a development pipeline exceeding 1,800 megawatts. Company President Jimmy Villaroman thanked the DOE and local leaders for policies and cooperation that enable faster progress in the country’s energy transition.
