Green energy developer Berde Renewables is ramping up its clean energy expansion with a major equipment supply agreement that secures 200 megawatts of solar capacity and 500 megawatt-hours of battery storage, strengthening its pipeline of commercial and industrial projects in the Philippines and Thailand.
Backed by global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital, Berde signed a strategic partnership with Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. and its regional distributor Solar Hive under a Master Framework Agreement that guarantees the supply of solar inverters and battery energy storage systems over the next three years.
The deal comes as businesses across Southeast Asia accelerate the shift toward renewable energy amid rising electricity costs, growing demand for energy security, and increasing pressure to meet decarbonization targets.
“This partnership gives Berde the scale, technology, and regional support to deliver clean energy solutions with greater speed and confidence across the Philippines and Thailand,” said Patrick Zhu, chief executive officer of Berde Renewables.
Zhu said the planned deployment of 200 MW of solar capacity and 500 MWh of battery storage represents a significant milestone, particularly for the Philippine market, where demand is growing for more resilient power systems capable of balancing intermittent renewable generation.
Beyond securing equipment supply, the partnership is expected to shorten project delivery timelines through priority access to Sungrow’s technology and a more efficient regional supply chain. Solar Hive will provide logistics, technical support, spare parts, and after-sales services, while the companies will also collaborate on training, certification, joint market development, and potential co-investment opportunities.
The agreement also strengthens Berde’s ability to offer customers battery-backed renewable energy systems that improve grid reliability, shift excess daytime solar generation into evening demand, and reduce electricity costs through long-term power purchase agreements. Under this model, Berde finances, builds, owns, and operates the systems before transferring ownership to customers at the end of the contract.
As battery storage becomes an increasingly critical piece of the clean energy transition, the agreement positions Berde to capture rising demand for integrated solar-plus-storage solutions, underscoring how the next phase of renewable energy growth will depend not only on generating clean power, but also on storing it when it matters most.
