Property developer Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI) has formally handed over a 6,000-square-meter prime lot in Bicutan to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), clearing the way for construction of the vital Bicutan Station under the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project.
The station will serve as a major transit hub linking two of the country’s biggest infrastructure schemes: the 147-kilometer NSCR and the Metro Manila Subway. Using a specialized track-sharing setup, it will allow subway trains to run on the NSCR line, creating a seamless travel route from Clark to Calamba and across Metro Manila.
FLI also announced plans to build a dedicated pedestrian connection linking its nearby 6.5-hectare property to the station. This will include an elevated bridge across the East Service Road and a covered walkway leading straight to the station’s pick-up and drop-off areas, making commutes safer and more convenient.
“Strong infrastructure drives economic progress,” said FLI President and CEO Tristan Las Marias. “Through this partnership, we are helping build better links between communities and growth areas, supporting a more connected Philippines.”
Work on the station and the 5.8-kilometer elevated rail segment covering Bicutan and Sucat is moving toward a 2031 target completion. The full NSCR system is set to launch operations by 2033, and is expected to create around 350,000 direct and indirect jobs in construction, engineering, operations, maintenance, and local businesses. Once fully operational, the integrated system will significantly cut travel times across Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
