Filinvest Land turns over land for Bicutan transport hub

Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI) has turned over a 6,000-square-meter property in Bicutan to the Department of Transportation, paving the way for the construction of the Bicutan Station, a key interchange that will link two of the country’s biggest railway projects and reshape commuting across Metro Manila and Southern Luzon.

The property will host the future Bicutan Station, a major transfer point connecting the 147-kilometer North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) and the Metro Manila Subway.

The integrated station will use a unidirectional track-sharing system, allowing subway trains to operate along the NSCR line and create a seamless rail connection from Clark to Calamba through Metro Manila.

The land turnover marks another step in accelerating the government’s flagship transport modernization program, which aims to ease chronic congestion, improve regional connectivity, and support economic activity by expanding mass transit capacity.

FLI also unveiled plans to build the Filinvest Pedestrian Link, an elevated and covered walkway that will connect its 6.5-hectare property directly to the station.

The project will feature an elevated bridge across East Service Road and a continuous covered pathway leading commuters from public transport drop-off areas to the station entrance, shielding passengers from traffic and harsh weather.

“We believe that a progressive economy relies heavily on robust infrastructure,” said Tristan Las Marias, FLI president and chief executive officer. “Our partnership with the DOTr for the Bicutan Station reflects Filinvest Land’s commitment to building the Filipino dream by providing efficient and convenient transportation connections to emerging urban centers and nearby communities.”

Construction of the 5.8-kilometer elevated railway segment covering the Bicutan and Sucat stations is targeted for completion by 2031, with full system operations expected by 2033. The project is projected to generate around 350,000 direct and indirect jobs across engineering, construction, rail operations, maintenance, and businesses along the transit corridor.

For an estimated one million daily passengers, the integrated station is expected to significantly reduce travel times while improving connectivity between Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Combined with the planned pedestrian link, the project underscores how public-private partnerships are evolving beyond real estate development into transport infrastructure that supports mobility, urban growth, and long-term economic productivity.
