Ayala launches ACX Retail for global brands

Ayala Corp. is sharpening its push into Philippine retail with the launch of ACX Retail, a new platform designed to bring international consumer brands into the country and build them into long-term businesses.

The platform, created through ACX Holdings Corp., will focus on fashion, lifestyle and specialty retail, pairing the reach and expertise of global brands with Ayala’s understanding of Filipino consumers and its local retail network.

The move comes as Philippine shoppers increasingly look beyond traditional retail for greater choice, international labels and more differentiated experiences.

“At ACX, our role is to help exceptional brands succeed in the Philippine market by combining their strengths with our understanding of local consumers, our retail capabilities, and the reach of the Ayala ecosystem,” Ayala Corp. head of corporate strategy and business development Mark Uy said.

ACX Retail builds on a series of international partnerships announced by ACX Holdings this year, including Australian retailer Anko, Thailand’s Makro, Dubai-based Spinneys and South Korea’s Musinsa Standard.

The new platform effectively gives those ventures a broader strategic home while creating a pipeline for additional global concepts seeking entry into the Philippine market.

Rather than simply importing brands, ACX Retail said it will focus on developing sustainable local businesses through long-term partnerships. That distinction could prove important in a market where international labels often have to adapt pricing, product mix and store formats to local spending habits.

“Filipino consumers are increasingly looking for quality, relevance, and differentiated experiences,” said Rohit Kohti, chief retail officer of ACX Retail. “Our focus is to bring the right global concepts to the Philippines and build them into sustainable businesses that create long-term value.”

For Ayala, the initiative extends its consumer strategy beyond individual retail ventures and toward a more coordinated platform for international partnerships.

It also reflects the growing appeal of the Philippines as a consumer market, supported by a large young population, expanding middle-class demand and increasingly sophisticated shopping preferences.

For global brands, meanwhile, ACX Retail offers a potential shortcut through the complexities of entering a market where local knowledge can matter as much as brand recognition.

Backed by Ayala’s business ecosystem, the platform is positioning itself not merely as a distributor or landlord, but as a long-term operating partner for global consumer companies seeking a foothold in the Philippines.
