Manila Water and the United Nations Global Compact Network Philippines (GCNP) jointly held a Peer Learning Session on Environment on September 24 at the MWSS Administration Building in Balara, Quezon City.
The session brought together private-sector and academic sustainability leaders to focus on climate resilience, water stewardship, circularity, and environmental responsibility, exchanging practical approaches and shared insights.
Opening the gathering, Manila Water Sustainability Director and GCNP Board Trustee Sarah Bergado emphasized collaboration as key to progress.
“Environmental challenges require collective action, innovation, and knowledge sharing. Platforms like this help organizations learn from each other and speed up solutions that benefit both business and society,” Bergado said.
UP Resilience Institute Research Director Dr. Darwin Bandoy discussed climate and environmental risks facing businesses and the value of resilience planning.
Manila Water’s Eddie Lumangaya shared how digital and data-driven tools strengthen water security and resilience. Nickel Asia Corporation’s Edwin Nerva outlined his company’s climate journey, including its SBTi-validated net-zero targets.
The event affirmed cross-sector teamwork as a powerful way to tackle environmental challenges. As a UN Global Compact member, Manila Water remains committed to driving climate resilience and environmental stewardship through partnership and shared progress.
