Transport agency whistleblower withdraws irregularities claims at LTFRB

Self-styled whistleblower and former information officer at the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) retracted on Wednesday allegations of corruption at the agency all the way to the office of the Transportation Department.

In his two-page affidavit of recantation, Jeff Gallos Tumbado said the reported allegations against Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chairman Teofilo Guadiz III and DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista were hurled “out of impulse, irrational thinking, and misjudgment and poor decision-making, possibly influenced by certain individuals.”

“This may have clouded my judgment at the time,” he quickly added.

Tumbado, however, insisted there are indeed problems within the agency that demand investigation by the authorities and that those responsible be held accountable.

“I have no malicious intention to besmirch the integrity and reputation of any one,” he claimed.

Tumbado’s allegations led to President Marcos to suspend Guadiz due to corruption.
