STT GDC Philippines announces second facility in Cavite data center campus

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC) is expanding its presence with the construction of a second facility at its STT Cavite data center campus only six months from starting construction of STT Fairview. The expansion brings the total number of its data centers to seven.

“As the Philippines sets its sights on a digital future and rapidly expands its digital capabilities, this forward momentum makes the need for robust digital infrastructure and rich network connectivity even more critical,” said Carlo Malana, president and CEO of STT GDC Philippines.

Located just outside the capital region, STT Cavite 2 is located in a business park with ready power and network infrastructure. It will be a two-story building with a gross floor area of over 4,500 square meters and deliver up to 6 megawatts of total IT capacity. Additionally, the facility is connected to two different power substations.

The data center is designed and operated to meet the TIA-942 Certification Rated-3, which covers the telecommunications infrastructure and other aspects of a mission-critical data center, such as the site location, architectural and physical structure of the building, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, fire safety and physical security.

STT Cavite 2 will include ready network connections to STT Makati, one of the most interconnected data centers in the Philippines, providing customers of STT Cavite 2 with immediate access to a rich selection of local and international network service providers, internet exchanges and submarine cable systems.

Set to begin operations in mid-2025, STT Cavite 2 is STT GDC Philippines’ second major build this year, following the groundbreaking on the STT Fairview data center campus, slated to become the largest, most interconnected, sustainable, and carrier-neutral data center campus in the country with a total capacity of 124MW upon completion.

STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture between Globe, the Ayala Corporation, and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC). It stands as the Globe Group’s investment into the digital future of the Philippines and the region.

As forecast in a recent study, the Philippines stands to unlock a vast economic potential of up to P5 trillion (USD101.3 billion) by 2030 through the full utilization of digital technologies. This impressive figure constitutes approximately 27 percent of the country’s GDP in 2020, a testament to the transformative power of technology.

Technology applications such as e-commerce and mobile applications have also been projected to generate an annual economic value of up to P3.5 trillion (USD69.9 billion), accounting for about 69 percent of the nation’s anticipated digital opportunity.
In this transformative landscape, digital infrastructure emerges as a critical building block, powering the nation’s digital transformation journey, stimulating economic growth, and nurturing innovation.
