LRMC announces temporary 5-day suspension of LRT-1 services

The Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) on Monday announced a temporary suspension of LRT-1 operations during the long Lenten holidays.

The temporary closure lasts from 27 to 31 March or from Holy Wednesday to Easter Sunday for the conduct of annual preventive maintenance activities and mandatory testing of systems integrating LRT-1 with the Cavite Extension.

These tests are crucial to meet the target partial operations of the extension’s Phase 1 in the fourth quarter this year.

“The first day of the no-operations period will be dedicated to the train movement simulation from LRT-1 Cavite Extension stations to the existing LRT-1 Gil Puyat Station,” LRMC chief operating officer Rolando J. Paulino III said.

“For the remaining days, our engineering team will conduct the essential maintenance activities to allow us to improve capacity and performance across the line, enabling us to serve our LRT-1 passengers with better, more reliable transport system,” he added.

The LRMC assures the public of regular operating hours maintained from 25 to 26 March or from Holy Monday to Holy Tuesday. The last commercial trips on these days will depart at 10:00 PM from LRT-1 Baclaran Station and 10:15 PM from LRT-1 Fernando Poe Jr. Station.

Normal operations at LRT-1 will resume on Monday, 1 April 1 start from 4:30 AM.

Commuters are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
