Local digital solutions platform Globe said its 5G outdoor coverage is more than 90 percent in place nationwide, providing faster and reliable internet connectivity to subscribers.
Although it sounds fancy, the 5G standard essentially strings together without wires industrial or home machines, objects and devices in an efficient and seamless manner.
The Ayala-led telco said its 5G outdoor cover stands at 97.2 percent in the National Capital Region and 90.2 percent in key cities in Visayas and Mindanao. This is significant in the goal of providing 5G connectivity to as many people as possible.
In 2022, Globe more than doubled its 5G coverage, ending the year with 5G connectivity in 70 cities and towns across the Philippines, compared to just 29 in 2021. Globe also reported over 3.9 million devices connected to its 5G network in December 2022.
The enterprise ended 2022 with 2,267 new 5G sites nationwide that provided more consumers and businesses with faster download and upload speeds, low latency and improved reliability, and an enhanced user experience.
With 5G, Globe also enables the use of new and innovative technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and the Internet of Things, among others.
Its 5G network is designed to support the demand for high-speed connectivity and help bridge the digital divide amid increasing demand.
